Short Bio
Tyson (The-Son) Kieu is a PhD candidate in Civil Engineering at Monash University, supervised by Dr. Yihai Fang, Prof. Amin Heidarpour, and Prof. Kenneth (Tak Wing) Yiu. His research develops computer vision-based digital twinning methods for on-site scaffold management, combining synthetic-real YOLO-based detection, image-based geometric interpretation, model-based 3D reconstruction, and rectification-oriented configuration checking.
His work aims to improve digital continuity between site images, as-built scaffold models, and practical inspection outputs. By converting visual site records into model-based information, his research seeks to reduce manual inspection effort, support safer management of temporary structures, and improve decision-making during construction.
